What to Wear Golfing: A Modern Guide to Women’s Golf Style

Golf style has changed. The traditional uniform of bright polos, technical fabrics, and overly sporty silhouettes is no longer the only option. Today, what you wear to the course can feel intentional, personal, and much closer to the way you already dress.

For women especially, there is more room to approach golf through the lens of personal style. The right outfit still needs to move comfortably through a full round, but performance does not have to come at the expense of good design.

At ARYA, that balance is something we think about constantly. Our first women’s collection, Desert Aurora, was designed around that idea: pieces made for the course, but never limited to it.

What Should Women Wear Golfing?

Most golf courses expect players to wear a collared or appropriately designed golf top with a skirt, shorts, pants, or dress. Dress codes vary from course to course, particularly at private clubs, so it is always worth checking before you arrive.

Beyond the dress code, comfort matters. A golf outfit needs to let you walk, rotate, bend, and swing without constantly having to adjust what you are wearing.

But practical does not have to mean overly athletic.

A well-designed women’s golf outfit can combine a clean silhouette, thoughtful proportions, and subtle performance details while still looking polished enough to wear after the final hole.

Start With a Golf Top That Feels Like You

The golf polo is a classic for a reason, but women's golf tops have moved far beyond the traditional boxy polo.

Look for a silhouette that gives you enough room to move while still creating shape. Fabric is equally important, especially when playing in warmer weather. Breathable materials can make a noticeable difference over several hours on the course.

For Desert Aurora, we designed the Aurora Top in breathable cotton piqué. Its extended button placket and contrast side detailing give it a more considered silhouette while keeping the familiarity of a classic golf top.

The result is something that feels at home on a golf course without immediately reading as traditional golfwear.

Choosing the Right Golf Skirt

A good women's golf skirt has to do more than look good standing still.

Golf involves considerably more movement than an outfit might suggest. You are walking, bending, rotating through your swing, getting in and out of a cart, and sometimes spending several hours outside.

Built-in shorts make that movement easier and provide coverage without requiring another layer underneath. Pockets are another small detail that becomes surprisingly important on the course.

Our Sierra Skirt was designed with built-in shorts with pockets and a substantial waistband finished with subtle ARYA branding. Paired with the Aurora Top, it creates a complete look without feeling overly coordinated.

Think About Color Differently

Women's golf clothing has traditionally leaned heavily toward bright colors, patterns, and sporty combinations. A more restrained palette can make golf pieces much easier to incorporate into the rest of your wardrobe.

Neutrals, deep reds, creams, navy, and other grounded shades work particularly well because they can be mixed with pieces you already own.

For Desert Aurora, we looked to the California desert.

Dune Stone takes its cues from warm sand and sun-washed landscapes, creating a softer neutral that pairs naturally with white, cream, brown, and other muted tones.

Desert Bloom brings a deeper burgundy into the collection. It feels richer and more pronounced while remaining easy to style.

The two colors create very different moods without relying on prints or excessive detailing.

Layer for the Course

Even on warm days, golf courses can feel completely different early in the morning or as the sun begins to disappear. A lightweight outer layer is one of the easiest things to keep in your golf bag.

Rather than treating the jacket as an afterthought, use it as part of the outfit.

A cream or neutral jacket can soften a darker golf set, while deeper colors can add contrast to a lighter look. For cooler days, Desert Aurora can be layered with ARYA's Montpelier Jacket, keeping the overall silhouette clean while adding another layer of warmth.

Accessories should follow the same approach. A simple cap, understated jewelry where appropriate, clean socks, and golf shoes that complement the palette can finish the outfit without overwhelming it.

Building a Modern Women's Golf Wardrobe

You don't need an entirely separate wardrobe for golf. Instead, start with a small number of pieces that work well together.

A versatile golf top, a comfortable skirt or pair of shorts, a lightweight outer layer, and a few simple accessories can create several different outfits. Choosing a consistent color palette makes this even easier.

Fit should come first. Then consider fabric, movement, and versatility. Finally, look at the details that make the clothing feel like something you actually want to wear.

The goal is not simply to find clothes that meet the requirements of a golf course. It is to find pieces that still feel like you when you step onto it.

A Different Approach to Women's Golf Style

Desert Aurora represents a new chapter for ARYA as our first collection designed specifically for women.

Inspired by the warm stillness of the California desert, the collection brings together sculptural forms, restrained colors, and thoughtful details. It reflects the way we believe modern golf clothing should feel: considered enough for the course and effortless enough for everything that comes after.

Because your style shouldn't stop at the first tee.

Desert tones. Sculptural forms. Quiet confidence.
